The Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (simplified Chinese: 中国共产党中央政法委员会; traditional Chinese: 中國共產黨中央政法委員會; pinyin: Zhōngguó Gōngchǎndǎng Zhōngyāng Zhèngfǎ Wěiyuánhuì) is the organization under the Communist Party of China Central Committee responsible for political and legal affairs. In practice the organization oversees all legal enforcement authorities, including the police force, making it a very powerful organ.
The Committee was established in 1980. It was to replace by the Political and Legislative Leading Small Group (政法领导小组) which was set up in 1958, with Peng Zhen as its leader.
The head of the Committee is the secretary.
